You can generate hundreds, or even thousands, of Smart Pages on your website, each based on a little used keyphrase, but when it is, the visitor gets to the page on your site that you have programmed it to: it could be your home page or it might be a squeeze page or a sales page.

Don’t misunderstand me, please. I believe in PPC and drive a substantial amount of traffic to my sites using this method. However, the web is changing and as internet marketers, we can either evolve or go the way of the dodo.

Producing a marketing video isn’t in itself a complicated procedure or one that requires hugely complex and expensive software applications. The various software components required for video production shouldn’t cost more than a few hundred dollars in total.

What can be complicated and leave us open to costly errors is the way we go about marketing our videos. One way is to produce a marketing video for our product or the affiliate product we promote and simply submit this to the various video hosting sites such as Revver, YouTube or Metaface to name just a few.

After submission, the video hosting sites allow us to further embed these videos in our own websites, without the need for any additional conversion. This process is simple and straightforward, but not one the serious online marketer should follow.

The reason is quite simple. Taking the embed codes from the hosting sites, such as Google Video for example, also carries across embedded videos from other users.

Video hosting sites group the videos submitted to them into categories. Taking an embed code from a video site could well result in additional videos being carried across from a competitor site for example. We would then be offering free traffic and advertising to this competitor, which is not really something we should be doing.

The best way is to convert our videos to flash and to add this flash video to our websites. To do this we need effective and reliable video conversion software.

Typically, videos tend to have large files sizes, so much so, that most of the video sites now limit the videos they accept to around 100 MB size and 10 minute length. This 100 MB size, gives a good indication of the amount of information we need to convert.

Video conversion takes time and if the converter we use hogs too much of our available computer resource, then we are effectively blocking any other activity we might need to do on our computer while the converter eats away at the video.

One of the most valuable commodities we have as internet marketers is our time. By the same token, Video is now one of the most effective weapons we have in our online arsenal. Combine video with effective use of time and we have a winner.

I’ve seen too many of my fellow marketers invest big money in the latest and most complex video production software and then skimp when it came to the converter. The result ? Great looking videos that nobody ever saw simply because their conversion software wasn’t up to the task.

The top class converters I use cost less than $100. Low quality converters come in at around $70. Does that price difference merit time and frustration? Not for me and neither should it for you.

Recently one of my websites (Top Adsense Niche) got hit by stumble upon users big time, I got about 7000+ visits and over 5000 uniques in August. And still most of my free traffic comes from there. My affiliate sales went up and alexa rank as well.

You see web 2.0 is changing the way Internet users and website owners view the Internet. The Web is much more interactive today. People from anywhere in the world can comment on and share websites that they have viewed online almost instantly and this is where Sumble Upon comes in.

You “stumbleupon” your own websites and they appear on your personal page on Stumble Upon. I also noticed that MSN gives more weight to websites that have been “stubledupon” in their search results. I get a lot of traffic from MSN Search Live as well.

It is great widget for people to bookmark or add your site to major social bookmarking sites like Digg, Furl, Facebook, Technorati, Google Bookmarks and more. Now Google Bookmarks is the one that brought my site (Top Adsense Niche and couple of others) to the top of Google search really quickly, I’m putting a report together on this and will be publishing it very soon.StumbleUpon has made huge difference in my traffic and at the same time in my sales. You should definitely get your free StumbleUpon account and AddThis button as it is a great part of New “Social Network Marketing” boom and get some free traffic that will turn into more sales as well.

The word silo typically means a storage container.

In a farming example of silos, there might be a silo for cow feed,
one for chicken feed, another for pig feed, and so on. Each silo
has the specific feed for one animal. You wouldn’t mix the chicken
feed with the cow feed, or any other feed for that matter.

In simple terms, when the word silo is used to describe the
structure of a web site, it simply means that content is grouped
into highly relevant groups (silos), and while you can link between
content in one group, you cannot cross link content from different
silos.

Each silo is thought of as separate from all other silos.

OK, so what does that mean.

Well, imagine you have a site about dogs. You might like to have a
sections on the following areas:

* dog training
* dog nutrition
* dog toys
* house-breaking
* grooming

The way you would do this with a silo structure is to use 5
distinct silos. Maybe a folder for each silo. NOTE: These silos
don’t actually have to be put into separate folders (there are
virtual and physical silos), but it is easier to do it this way
when you first start using silos.

With this in mind, I would create a folder structure where my main
site folder would have 5 sub-folders:

dog site (main site folder)
- dog training (sub-folder)
- dog nutrition (sub-folder)
- dog toys (sub-folder)
- house-breaking (sub-folder)
- grooming (sub-folder)

In the main site folder (dog site), I would put my homepage for the
dog website.

I would then create a separate “homepage” for each of the silos.
e.g. a homepage on dog training, and homepage on dog nutrition, and
so on. Each of these homepages would go into the appropriate
sub-folder.

You can think of each silo as being equivalent to a small site.

All content I write for the site will be put into one of the five
silos. For example, a review of “dog chow” would go into the “dog
nutrition” folder, whereas an article on the “best dog brushes” to
use for a particular breed would go into the “grooming folder”.

Each silo will build up into a self-contained “mini-site” within
the larger site. You can even have silos within silos, but let’s
not go there at the moment.

In a logical way, a search engine such as Google for example will
consider such a site as an authority site, because it is well structured,
and it is able to bring a useful experience to the visitor looking
for specific information.

Articles in one silo, cannot link to articles in another silo (well
this isn’t strictly true, but you would want to avoid search
engines following those links if you did include them). So, and
article on house-breaking your dog should not link to an article on
making your dog roll-over.

As the site gets bigger, you can imagine that each of my five silos
will get bigger. In effect, I am building 5 mini-sites on specific
niches within my main dog site.

The dog site homepage would link to each silo main page, and the
content within each silo will also link to the silo homepage, plus
other articles within the silo. I cant go into the specifics of
silo linking here, as it is a huge subject.
Each of the silo homepages have been named using keywords, but you
could call them index.html instead. I have seen both while I have
researched silos, and as yet, I am not sure which is the better
option. If there are any silo gurus reading this, please let me
know your thoughts.

From what you know about site linking, can you see the benefits of
silo structure?

The idea behind silos stems from the idea that links from a
relevant page will count for more than a link from an irrelevant
page (remember how I have said many times that when you get links
from other sites, they should be highly relevant sites? Well,
internal linking is the same).

In general, the more relevant the linking page, the greater the
benefit.

By keeping related content in a separate silo, and only linking
content within a silo, not to other silos, you are ensuring that
all links to and form a page, are to, and from related pages.

The search engines will see all of the highly relevant links to
each page, and see how each mini-site (silo) is tightly themed, and
rank it higher.

Do silo’s work?

Well, in theory, I cant see how they would fail, but I am only
talking theoretically here, as I have not built a hard-core silo
site.

The way I have built sites for the last few years is more of a
virtual silo system. While I haven’t used folders for each silo,
my main pages of a site do resemble a silo main page, and I do
create good content to support each main page.

So, for example, if I had a site on babies, and one of my main
pages was on baby strollers, I would write 10-20 articles reviewing
the various baby strollers available, and linking each one back to
the baby stroller homepage. Sounds like a silo, right?

Where my sites have failed as real silos, is in the cross-linking
of content. e.g. each of my main pages links to all of the other
main pages. This is cross-linking the silos, and something a real
silo wouldn’t have. Also, I do tend to cross-links “silo” content.
e.g. If I had an article on Graco baby strollers, I might link it
to an article on Graco car seats. In a traditional silo site, I
shouldn’t do that, as one article is in the “baby stroller” silo,
and the other is in the “car seats” solo.

To correct your sites so they are structured like a silo, you could
keep that link, but would need to add a rel=nofollow tag to the
link, to prevent the search engines from following the link, and
bleeding the theme. That way, each main page would resemble a
silo, and have related content linking to it.

Having read up on silos for a while now, I am going to try and
build a hard-core silo site, and report back on the success or
failure of that site , so stay tuned for periodic
updates on my silo building experiences.

Using Silos bots will never stop scraping your site! And you will
receive tons of free traffic for this!

For if traffíc is King; targeted traffíc is God. All traffíc is good, but there is a great distinction between ordinary traffíc and targeted traffíc. Someone clicking on a link to your site who is looking for the exact information or product you have displayed is said to be a targeted visitor. These are the kinds of visitors or traffíc you must try to obtain in your marketing and link building.

Why?

Because targeted traffíc is often the key to building a successful site on the web. Targeted traffíc will greatly íncrease your salës conversions, bring back repeat visitors and help your site gain a prominent online presence.

So here are 10 targeted traffíc building steps you can take:

1. Google Is God!

Only half-kidding but at least where targeted traffíc is concerned, Google is still the all important being you should be worshipping online. Don’t ignore the other two major demigods Yahoo! and MSN, but Google will deliver most of your traffíc. Your website stats will point this out to you daily, so you must optimize your site for Google.

As a general rule make your pages Google friendly by only using one topic per page, include your keywords in the title, meta description and url for that page. It would also be helpful to have your main keywords in the first headline on the page and most experienced webmasters try to place their keywords in the first 90 words and in the last 25 words. Sprinkle your keywords and variations throughout the copy but don’t keyword sp@m, just let the engines know this is what your page is about.

2. Target The Right Keywords

You must target the right keywords in order to get useful traffíc to your site. You must first chëck the number of searches and amount of competition for your chosen keywords. You can use software like Keyword Elite or Our Free Keyword tool (www.seojr.com/keywordtool/) which will give you the Overture monthly stats to help you pick the right keywords for your site. Instead of picking highly competitive keywords, take the middle road and milk the ‘long tail keywords’!

Most webmasters create a master keyword líst for their site then branch off into sub-categories from this master líst. For example, if you have a site on laptops your sub-keyword categories could be laptop accessories, laptop batteries and so on. Similarly, most webmasters only develop their sites in a simple hierarchy with the homepage as the center with their major keywords as separate pages and then sub-categories branching out from these. Your webpages should not be more than three clicks away from your homepage as this will really displease the search engine gods!

3. Have Relevant Content

Perhaps what will appease the SE gods the most is relevant content. Your content has to be relevant to the topic of your site. Keep everything on topic and within the scope of your site.

Relevant, helpful content will also be the biggest magnet for targeted traffíc. Surfers are usually looking for information, give them what they want and your site will reap the rewards. Original, high quality, relevant content will draw in targeted traffíc to your site so make sure you have some good content to satisfy your visitors and the search engines.

4. Let The Search Engines Find You

Instead of submittíng your site to the search engines, let them find your site. One of the best ways to do this is by placing your links on high traffíc/spidered sites: on online forums matching your site’s content, on social networks such as MySpace, YouTube, Squidoo… and on article directories like FreeArticles101, Ezinearticles, Goarticles, and Ideamarketers. The search engines will follow these links and index your site before you even know it.

5. Use Traffíc Modules

One of the most effective ways to bring in targeted traffíc is to create traffíc modules: whole areas of your site devoted to one sub-topic. For example, if you have a general site on cars, you could develop a whole section on a car-buying guide. Another section could be on car accessories, link all these pages together into a neat traffíc cluster on your site. The search engines will love these closely grouped pages and reward you with lots of targeted traffíc.

6. Use Articles

Don’t forget article marketing, just because it has become extremely popular doesn’t mean it has become any less effective. Writing short helpful informative articles on your site’s topic is still one of the best ways to get targeted traffíc to your site. Place your links with your targeted keyword anchor text in the resource box.

Article marketing is an invaluable source not only of targeted traffíc but also one-way links to your site. These links will help íncrease your rankings, especially in Google which considers each link as a democratic vote for your site and ranks each page with a PageRank PR 0-10.

Articles are also extremely important for pre-selling to your potential customers. These articles warm or soften up your prospective buyers to your salespitch before they even reach your site.

7. Build Opt-ín Lists

Most marketers and webmasters use opt-ín lists to bring targeted visitors back to their sites. Instead of just receiving that visitor once, you can get repeat visits by using a simple follow-up system with an autoresponder. Studies have consistently shown it might take 6 or 7 follow-ups before a potential customer buys.

Building a subscríber líst will also be helpful in creating a web community around your site. These community members may become your most targeted of all your visitors. Likewise, you should have a bookmark feature on all your pages, any repeat visitor is a targeted visitor!

8. Have Blogs & RSS Feeds

Make sure you have a blog and RSS feed attached to your site. This will not only bring in targeted traffíc but your visitors can also subscribe to your RSS feed. This will bring targeted visitors back to your site. Use a free site like www.xblogz.info or Google’s own www.blogger.com or better yet create your own blog using free software such as WordPress.

9. Use Social Media

Build links and contacts in all the important social media networks such as MySpace, YouTube and Flickr. These social networks are a great source of very targeted traffíc.

10. Use Multimedia

Perhaps the biggest opportuníty to build targeted traffíc is using video and audio media on your site. These will help personalize your message or content and build trust with your visitors. Video clips also have a great viral potential which will bring in traffíc.

Sites such as YouTube, Google Video can help you get your message or content in front of millíons of eyes overnight. Savvy marketers are already exploiting the traffíc potential of this new multimedia trend overtaking the web. Why should they have all the fun? You too, can take advantage of these free media sites and pull in targeted traffíc to your site.

Of course, there are many more ways of getting targeted traffíc to your site. But just using one or two of these techniques should íncrease your targeted traffíc in the coming months. Appease the traffíc gods by putting these steps into practice and see for yoursëlf.
