Three Most Important SEO Elements
← → |
There are a number of different techniques which are referred to under the blanket term search engine optimization (or SEO). All SEO techniques have the same goal – making websites more visible to people through search engines by improving their placement within search engine results.
Most internet marketers focus their attention on the Google search engine. It’s no surprise considering its dominant position across the market. Even though this is a great place to start, SEONetworker Mastermind will utilize other search engines like Bing and Yahoo, even though the numbers are smaller. In fact, there plenty of smaller search engines that will give you a better chance at reaching higher rankings and getting more visitors.
SEO is an ever evolving process, Ferny Ceballos and Raymond Fong from SEONetworker Mastermind Group explain and teach how to stay on top of the SEO game.
There are three important elements of your page design which add to your SEO; these are not the only things to take into account when building a website (these can also be changed in an existing site), but these are considered to be the three most important:
1. Meta Tags – These are a very important part of optimizing your site for the search engines, since these are read by the search engine crawlers as they index your site. If you don’t include these, many search engines will not index your site at all, essentially making it invisible to search engines. These tags include:
Meta Title- This is the one tag you have to have in order to get indexed. Just take a look at the resource type and you will see it read “document,” just leave it alone.
Meta Description- Even though not all search engines look for these tags, it’s still important to use. If you keep everything short and concise (1-2 sentences), you will find it next to your page name in the search engine index.
Meta Keyword- It’s recommend that you place up to 12 keywords here. Just make sure they are relevant to the site’s content.
2. Navigational Links – One of the most overlooked areas is the navigational links. When setting this area up, make sure it either on the right side or bottom of the page. Crawlers will read the text of your site just like humans do. So the first 100 words is considered to be the most important. If you make them the names of your navigational links on the right or bottom of the page, then the first 100 words will be more useful when it comes to SEO. So make sure your most important keywords are present. Also be sure you don’t have a Java-script navigation bar in the area either.
3. Content – Obviously visitors want to see good content on your site. If you provide useful information and continue to do so, they will constantly come back for more. Adding updated information regularly will keep the crawlers coming back to re-index your site as it gets bigger.
This is something that Ferny Ceballos and Raymond Fong have been preaching for quite some time. So update your site with original content, instead of duplicated content. Your job as an SEO Networker is to create a plethora of traffic to your website and this is one of those ways.
